A Place of Rest in Pike Place Market

In every major public place within a city, it is important to consider how people will use the spaces that we are designing. Is it an active space, with lots of room for people to move around and interact? Or is it a place of rest, where people can stop, sit, enjoy a view, perhaps rest their feet for a while? Usually, large public spaces include some of each.

The Pike Place Market expansion, designed by Miller Hull, is one such public place. The new outdoor area connects to a public park that already existed and includes plenty of areas for movement as well as a variety of places for rest.
